On November 7th, 2013, a Pastebin (here)  was created announcing the launch of #OpSafeWinter, which provided instructions on how to assist the poor and homeless to survive the harsh winter in many areas of the world.

As of January 2014, the @OPSafeWinter Twitter feed has accumulated upwards of 1,400 followers. The operation was largely seen as a success, leading to the creation of local charity networks in at least a dozen different countries. The campaign was particularly well-received in the United States, United Kingdom and Brazil, where the participants continued to operate resource banks and soup kitchens, as well as organizing public demonstrations to raise awareness of life on the streets.
